"Healing Power"
Scripture: Luke 15:4-7
“What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the
ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And
when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh
home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with
me; for I have found my sheep which was lost. I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be
in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons,
which need no repentance.”

Devotion: Today we look at a parable from Jesus’ ministry. In today’s lesson He
expresses to us the importance of going after the lost. If we are looking at it through a
natural lens, it may seem odd to leave 99 sheep to go look for one that has run off. But
this parable lets us know just how valuable each soul is to our God. We sometimes
forget this and it’s easy to just say, “Let them go on about their business.” However,
that’s not the way God wants us to be when it comes to His precious souls.

We should always do our best to restore believers that may slip and walk away. Now,
the Bible also tells us not to waste time if they won’t repent and won’t hear us. We are
told to shake the dust off and move on, but we should always make an effort to save a
lost soul, and when these lost sheep return, we should be welcoming and ready to
receive them. We can reference the story of the prodigal son. Even though he was in a
low place, when he came to himself and went back to his father, he was received with
open arms and the father threw a party. When one of our lost brothers/sisters comes
back into the fold. let us remember this example and rejoice for the soul that has been
reclaimed.

Prayer: Lord, we thank You for Your example of restoration. Help us to be
able to reach the lost and to be willing and ready to accept our wayward brothers and
sisters upon their return. Let us rejoice and be thankful for them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
