 The Genuineness of Your Faith
“that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,” - I Peter 2:7

Devotional:
What does it mean to be genuine? According to webster, genuine means, truly what something is said to be; authentic. There are several synonyms for the word genuine; real, actual, original bona fide, true, and veritable, just to name a few. When we say that we are a people of God, walking by faith and not by sight, the world looks at the authenticity of our conviction/faith. When we buckle under pressure, that shows the world that the faith we say we have is not as authentic as we are showing it to be.

Peter is saying that our faith is much more precious than gold. Gold is processed under fire but yet it perishes. Our faith is processed under fire as well, but we live. We live to tell the story of how good God is and testify of His goodness. God is honored, and glorified when we come out of the flames through the realness/genuineness of our faith.

Today, look at how you’re being processed in the fire. If you see smoke, just know, God is making something within you that’s more precious than gold. FAITH!

Lord, I thank you for using my authentic faith in You to show the world how wonderful You are. In Jesus Name, Amen
