“Strong in Grace”
Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:1 (NIV)

“Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus.”

Devotion:          
One of my favorite scriptures is “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10) There is no joy outside of God, and there is definitely no strength outside of Him. When I have tried to do things by my power and will, I have failed miserably. However, when I learned to depend on God, I found I could be strong through His grace. God wants to know that we trust Him in all things, and that we will surrender our will for His.

In today’s scripture, Paul is writing to Timothy in order to encourage Him to be strong in the grace of God. Further along in the scripture, He addresses Timothy as a good soldier of the Lord. He admonishes him to continue to spread the word of God without fear, fully relying on God’s power. It is so important for us to rely on God’s power not just in difficult times, but in our daily walk. When we try to figure things out on our own, that is when undue stress and worry take over and cause us to lose focus on the great God we serve. We must be strong in the Lord.

Prayer:
Lord, help us to fully and completely rely on Your strength that You have given us through Jesus. Help us trust in You. Amen.
