Love Covers a Multitude of Sin
And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins. 1 Peter 4:8

Devotional
Jesus laid down His life for us all. He was the only sacrificial lamb that was able to crucify flesh in the flesh without every sinning Himself. His love covered our sin, and He redeemed us back to God. We are supposed to take that same love and cover our sister and brothers by drawing them to God with His love and kindness. There are many people who will gossip and tear a person down when they hear a negative word spoken about them. They don’t care about fact checking, or taking the time to cover the individual in prayer. They will cover them in death talk and condemnation instead. These people are like the biblical folks with stones in their hands. They say, “I am not covering up sin, I am exposing sin when I see it.” My question is did we expose our own sin? Or did we repent, and pray to God to forgive us? All the while hoping that no one was able to discern that addiction, that bad habit, those wayward thoughts and actions. The last time I checked we all have sinned and come short of God’s glory, and we all need His grace. I know I need His grace daily. Can you imagine with me for a moment what the church (body of Christ) would look like if we really started loving each other like God loves us? I am talking about unconditional, underserved, unmerited, genuine agape love. His love is not based on status, abilities, talents, money, attractiveness, favoritism, etc.  His love is a fact of His very existence, because God is love!

Prayer
 Lord, as you cover me in your divine love, help me to cover others. Take away any vanity from me that does not honor or show your love in my life. Amen.
