“Our Gracious Father”
Scripture: Isaiah 30:18 (NIV)

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!"

Devotion:
In today’s scripture, Isaiah is talking to the Israelites and letting them know despite their disobedience and rebellion, God is yet willing to be gracious to them if they return to Him and repent of their ways. Over and over again, God displayed His grace and mercy to the children of Israel. Despite all the things He did for them, they still allowed doubt and disbelief to cloud their minds. They sinned, idol worshipped, and rebelled against God. Yet God showed them His continual grace and mercy by allowing them to repent and return to Him.

God is yet showing us grace and mercy today. However, we never want to take His grace and mercy for granted. God is a God of grace and compassion. However, He is also a God of justice, and His word will come to pass. God is faithful to us, so we should also be faithful to Him. Faithfulness means we wait for Him. When we wait for God, He blesses us.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 KJV)

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for being such a gracious father to us. Help us wait patiently for You in every area of our lives. Help us walk obediently to You in every area of our lives. Amen.
