Above All These Put on Love
 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
Colossians 3:14

Devotional
Have you ever heard the saying “dressed up on the outside, but messed up on the inside?” Many times, people will spend a great deal of time making sure their outward appearance is attractive and appealing, but they will forget about making sure their inner appearance is attractive and appealing. The reality is God sees through us, and He is looking for hearts that love the way He does. It grieves my heart when I hear someone say that they can’t stand church folks or Christians because they are mean, cliquey, rude, self-righteous, and judgemental, etc.

 The first thing I ask is are they really talking about Christians (Christ-like) individuals?
Today’s scripture tells us to clothe ourselves in love. That means God’s love is shining inside of me and on the outside of me. I am dressed up in God’s love. When I speak, I am speaking in love, and when I walk, I am walking in His love. Love is not something I put on once or twice a week when the mood strikes me, it's a lifestyle that I live out daily. When we allow God’s love to permeate every area of our lives, to cover our insecurities, mishaps, mistakes, and shortcomings, we will take His love and cover others in it, just as God has covered us. Hurt people, hurt people, but healed people love people.

Prayer
God help me to clothe myself in your love. Heal me of anything that would cause me to operate outside of your love. Help me to love my brothers and sisters unconditionally the way you love me. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
