Faith Without Works is Dead
“17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. 19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” - James 2:17-26

Devotional:
Have you ever heard this phrase; “if you don’t have a job, your job is to get a job” ? Sounds funny, but so true. You can pray all day and ask God all day for a job, but you have to get out of the house and look for the job. Here’s another one I hear often, “I’m gonna lose weight this year, but I don’t like exercising.” Well, sir or mam, that’s not gonna happen if you don’t start moving. You have to get up and take part in your own success.

It works the same way with our faith. We can say we have faith and believe that God can and will do all things, but if we don’t exercise that faith, meaning put feet to the prayers; that faith is just words not action. You can have all the power in your hands, but until that power is spoken and activated, it’s just useless power. 

As you seek The Lord in prayer today be sure you’re not just asking Him, but you’re actually moving forward and in faith and deed. If you’re hungry, you have to get up and get the food.

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for the strength to not just believe but to act on what I believe.  In Jesus Name Amen.
