Devotion to Fellowship
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ [n]doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and [o]sold their possessions and goods, and divided[p] them among all, as anyone had need.46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added [q]to the church daily those who were being saved. - Acts 2: 42-47

Devotional:
This week we will focus on building community. Luke illustrated the necessity of coming together to build a strong community. The people were bought into the doctrine preached by the apostles – so much so that they sold their possessions to ensure the needs of all were met in the community. God is not telling us to sell everything we have and put it in one pot. He is telling us that as disciples, as community builders, and as servants, we should be doing all we can to meet the needs of the people – physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially (if possible). Because once we begin to meet the needs, people will come to be saved because the Lord will add to the church.

Think about your community and how you can help meet the needs of your surroundings. So many times, the focus is turned outside the walls, but what are we doing to meet the needs inside out walls first. We must first strengthen each other before we can help someone else.
 
Prayer:
Father, thank you for the community in which you have placed me. Allow me to meet the needs of those in my community so that we can be a stronger, effective ministry. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
