Cast All Your Cares

I Peter 5:6-8
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Devotion
In the previous scripture Peter instructs the youth to submit to their elders and be clothed with humility. Have you ever read that scripture and wondered why he would specifically speak to them? Let’s look at how life works. When you were in your youth, let’s say 18-24, you thought you had the answers to everything, and no one could tell you anything. We were told by our elders, “this world doesn’t care about you. It will chew you up and spit you out!” Then life happened. Every piece of advice you did not submit to came back to your remembrance.
Now that you’re older and have put away childish thinking, you must submit your ways, your thoughts, your mind to Christ. We shouldn’t fool ourselves in to thinking that submitting everything to Christ is easy, because it’s not. Much like the mind of a young person; we too think we have all the answers. We rely on our experiences to get us through difficult times only to find out we do not have the answers. This time, it’s not the world that’s chewing us up and spitting us out; it’s the devil. He’s looking to destroy us and take away our peace. Let’s not allow that to happen.
As you go through day two of your fast, remember to pray and seek His face. Thank Him for giving you the mind that He has. The fruit of the spirit. He will keep you in perfect peace, if you keep your mind stayed on Him. Isaiah 26:3.

Prayer:
Lord, I thank you for keeping my mind at ease when life becomes overwhelming. I thank you for not allowing the enemy to destroy me and my mind. I look to You for all things, because it’s in You I live and have my being. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
