Shepherd the Flock of God
2 Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but [willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly; 3 nor as being lords over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock; - I Peter 5:2-3

Devotional:
In today’s lesson the Lord is reminding us, as shepherds, to conduct ourselves with honor and to treat the people of God with respect and dignity. There are alot of different types of leaders, but if we refer to the scripture he gives us the example of how He would have us to treat the sheep. As we discussed in the previous devotion, we as leaders must always treat the people of God with the greatest level of care. We do not want to be guilty of scattering his sheep. You may not be a pastor, but you may be an Auxiliary leader in the church. Even in that position, you must serve those that are under your leadership with respect and honor. This is the example that He gives us in 1 Peter 5. We cannot be compulsive as shepherds and we must be honest and not overbearing in leadership. If we remain prayerful in leadership, He will direct us and guide us in our positions and teach us how to work with individuals under our care.  

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we pray today for the shepherds of your people everywhere. We pray that you help them to be good stewards of the souls that we’ve been given charge of. Help us to remain honest and to be a good example to the people of God. Help us to always be people of integrity and honesty. Let us remember that they are your people and not ours. In Jesus name. Amen.
