"Check Your Heart"
Scripture: Hebrews 3:12-14
"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing
from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of
you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. For we are made partakers of
Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;"

Devotion: As we minister and share God’s gospel, it is important that we do so with a
pure and clean heart. The scripture does admonish us to be careful and to make sure
that our own hearts do not turn evil, and we become unbelieving. Sometimes when we
look at circumstances and oppositions that we may face, even serving in the church, it
can become challenging, and the enemy may throw something at us to get us off guard.
But as Paul says, be careful.

Every now and then we must do a spiritual checkup. Just as we do with our physical
health, we need to keep up our spiritual health. How do we do that? By maintaining a
consistent prayer life, spending time reading and studying God’s word, so that we can
hear from Him, and fasting. The word tells us this kind goes out only by prayer and
fasting.

So, when we begin to feel ourselves slipping and becoming weak in our belief, it’s
important that we take a step back, unplug and do a heart check or as we call it soul
searching. God is standing by, and He will help us through anything that we may face in
this walk.

Prayer: Lord, we thank You for being there for us in the face of tests and trials.
We ask You God to help us to keep our hearts pure, so that when we minister and
serve, we are doing so from a genuine place and with a heart of love for You. In Jesus’
name. Amen.
