Daily Devotional - Transition to Power - WK30 - 07/24/24 - Day 185 "Red Sea Faith"
Author: Elder Larond Sheppard
Red Sea Faith
Scripture: Exodus 14: 13-14
"13. And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will shew to you today: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen today, ye shall see them again no more forever. 14. The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace."
Devotion:
This is a very powerful passage of scripture that can and will encourage the believer to trust in the LORD always. Regardless of the situation, trust in the LORD, no matter what. This is the Word of God that Moses spoke to the children of Israel upon them coming to the Red Sea shore. They had mountains beside them, the Red Sea ahead of them and Pharoah behind them. He was dead serious. What I mean is, Pharoah's intentions were to either re-enslave them or kill them all. The children of Israel were terrified and in fear of their lives, this is how serious it was. They cried out "Moses have you brought us out here to die"? God told Moses to stretch out his rod; when Moses raised his rod God parted the Red Sea. What a Word of encouragement spoken when these people were at death's door. They realized that they would rather die in the Red Sea than be killed by the sword of Pharaoh's army.
This is the salvation that God showed to the children of Israel. The Egyptian Army behind them to push them into their victory, activated their faith. They stepped right into the water and in doing so God parted the Red Sea, and they walked on dry land. Something that we do not mention at all, but scientifically the farther a person walks out into the water, especially a sea or ocean, the deeper it gets and then there is a cavernous cliff that drops to deep depths of over 1600 feet or deeper. God didn't just part the waters making a wall of water on both sides, but He made a bridge, and a wide one at that. Wide enough so that the children of Israel could cross safely. Look at it this way, their feet were dry and there was no mud anywhere.
Moses encouraged the children of Israel by speaking these words; “Let not your hearts fail, or sink, or stagger, through unbelief; but with quiet minds look up to God. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace”.
Prayer: Lord, we thank You for giving us an example of Your love for us through the experience of the parting of the Red Sea. We trust that if You did it for them, you’ll do it for us. We love You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
