“Lending, Not Borrowing”
Scripture: Deuteronomy 28:12

 “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.”

Devotion:
Deuteronomy 28:12 speaks of the blessings of God to the Israelites for their obedience. In today’s scripture, God promises to open the heavens and bless the land with rain in season, ensuring the prosperity of the people. The result is they will have more than enough—so much, in fact, that they will lend to others and never have to borrow.

This verse speaks to us today. God wants to bless us so much that we become lenders and not borrowers. This type of blessing comes with us totally and irrevocably surrendering to God’s will.  God's provision is limitless, and He desires to bless us when we seek Him, follow His commands, and trust in His faithfulness.

Just as God promised the Israelites, those same promises apply to us today. When we are obedient to God’s will and our actions align with God’s plan and purpose, when we remove the stubbornness of our own thoughts and ideas, when we trust in Him fully, He promises that we will be blessed abundantly – to lend and not borrow. Imagine that!

Prayer:
God, thank You for Your bountiful blessings. Help us to remember that You are our source. Help us to remain submitted to Your Will and we know that You will bless us. Help us to then to share those blessings with others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
