The Best Life

Scripture: Genesis 50:2
 
"2 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel." KJV

Embalm – to treat (a dead body) so as to preserve it.  To keep in memory; to keep unchanged.

Devotion
When one has lived to a good old age, this is a process that is taken to preserve the body as if it was still filled with its soul and spirit. Joseph’s command was to have his father’s body preserved to keep it from decaying, as his father died in Egypt and had to be carried back to Canaan to be buried. Without this process, imagine the odor of decaying flesh. The body would become unrecognizable, and the smell of his flesh would be unbearable. But the soul and spirit has entered into Paradise. 2 Corinthians 5:8-9 – "We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."  v9 "Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him."

As we purpose and commit to living an Authentic Life while here on earth, it doesn’t compare to being in the presence of the Lord when we transition to our Heavenly home. There was a song written This is just a rehearsal of how we expect to live even greater in that prepared place that God has for us. Being a note taker through the years, I have notes and lessons that I have researched. I found notes taken from Christ’s sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), the Beatitudes, as a foundation where we can learn to examine our hearts, attitudes, to be renewed in our minds, and to live the spiritual life by putting off the old man and putting on the new, spiritual man.  

I want to share the following:
BE… Attitude

• Humility – Matthew 5:3
• Repentant – Matthew 5:4
• Submissive – Matthew 5:5
• Honesty – Matthew 5:6
• Merciful – Matthew 5:7
• Obedient – Matthew 5:8
• Reconciliation – Matthew 5:9
• Faith – Matthew 5:10
• Perseverance – Matthew 5:11-12
• Loving Servant – Matthew 5:13-16

There are 8, but the last 2 are the result we can expect from the first 6. 
a. we become peacemakers between man and man and between man and God.
b. we can expect to be persecuted for we are all Disciples of Christ.

Prayer:
The Word of God is alive (Amen Pastor).  As we commit and desire more of God and the Holy Spirit to live as Jesus who gave the greatest example of how to live, I pray that we hunger and thirst the more to live our best life with the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
