“Life and Death in the Tongue”

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” – John 6:63

Devotional:
These powerful words of Jesus are a constant reminder that it really does matter what you say. Jesus’ words were spirit and life because He had a mission of service and a mission of giving and a mission of hope. He continued to remind His disciples that He was the key, and if they would only adhere to His words, they would have everything they needed.

The tongue is the most powerful member of the human body. I am not speaking naturally; I am speaking spiritually. The tongue has the power to uplift, the power to tear down, the power to build and the power to destroy. Even one of the disciples, who walked with Jesus. eventually in the end turned against Him. We have the power to move mountains with our mouth, or we can cause mountains to move on us. Let us practice the former. Let us right from this very moment begin to speak the words that will uplift, that will bring healing, that will mend relationships, and that will bring people closer to Christ.

Transitioning to more power means aligning our thoughts, actions, and words with Jesus. We have no room to deviate, no room to add and definitely no room to subtract. We must speak the words of Jesus because they are spirit, and they are life. Let’s LIVE!!!!!

Prayer:
Father, thank You for Your Word which is spirit and life to me. Help me to speak the vocabulary of the victorious, and also help me to realize it really does matter what I say.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
