“Pressed Down, Shaken Together”
Scripture: Luke 6:38

“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.”

Devotion:
Generosity is a principle that runs deep in the heart of Jesus' teachings. In Luke 6:38, Jesus shows us the magnitude of giving and receiving. When we give, it is the way we show the love of God in us. It’s not about stuff; it’s about the heart and how we relate to those around us.

The phrase "pressed down, shaken together, and running over" is one that I love to hear, especially from the seasoned Saints. It’s something about the way they say it that lets you know that God has blessed them. God’s overflow isn’t limited to just physical things. It is spiritual as well. God seeks to give us more than material things, He wants to also give us His peace, joy, love, wisdom, and so much more. And as God pours into us, we should be pouring into others, this is the cycle of giving and receiving. We should not be trying to hold onto every thing, every blessing, every measure God has given us because we then only have what we have and God can’t bless us with more. When we pour out, it makes room in us for God to refill what we have emptied out.

Prayer:
God, thank You for Your generosity to me. Help me to share that with others, knowing that when I give, You will give back to me. Help me be a reflection of You always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
