That Your Love Will Abound More and More

Phil. 1:9-11
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; 10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ. 11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Devotional:
In this scripture Paul is praying for two qualities: knowledge and discernment. Knowledge is an awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a fact or situation, and the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject. Discernment is having the ability to judge well. We grow in love more as we learn about God’s love for us. We also grow in our understanding and learn how to live and grow according to what we’ve learned.

Our goal should not be to settle to live a life of mediocrity, but to love and grow in Christ. As we grow in the things of God, we’ll then be able to recognize what is moral and spiritual excellence. We’ll understand what really counts and matters and begin to pursue it.
As you go throughout your day today, think about the fruits of righteousness that’s been given to us by Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus Christ that we are made the righteousness of God. We are in right standing with Christ now. Live with knowledge and your walk will be sincere and without doubt.

Prayer:
Father in Jesus name, I pray that Your love may abound more and more in us through knowledge so that we may be able to discern what is best for us. Thank You for filling us with the fruit of righteousness through Jesus Christ that we too can live a more pure and blameless life to the glory and praise to our God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
