“Grace Reigns Through Righteousness”
 Scripture: Romans 5:21 (KJV)

“That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Devotion:
Today, we will continue our discussion of Grace. Today’s lesson reminds us that grace restores. The text today contrasts two kingdoms: one ruled by sin and death, and the other ruled by grace and life through Jesus Christ. Paul shows how God’s grace doesn’t just counteract sin; it triumphs over it.
This verse is a reminder of the power of grace and the victory we have through Jesus, who brings eternal life.

Paul explains to us in Romans 5 how sin entered the world through Adam, bringing death and separation from God to all humanity. But through Jesus, the second Adam, grace abounds even more. Sin once held dominion, but through Christ’s righteousness, grace now reigns, offering eternal life to all who believe. Paul’s message is of hope. He reminds us that grace is not only stronger than sin, but is the final word for those in Christ.

Today’s verse reminds us of God’s plan to restore what was lost through sin. Where sin brought death and destruction, grace now reigns, bringing life and restoration. Grace doesn’t simply cover our sin; it transforms us and leads us into righteousness. Sin enslaves and separates us from God, leading to spiritual and physical death. But through Christ’s sacrifice, grace overcomes the power of sin, not only saving us but also empowering us to live in righteousness. The reign of grace doesn’t end in this life; it leads us into the fullness of eternal life with God.

When grace reigns in our lives, we no longer live under the weight of guilt, shame, or condemnation. Instead, we are free to walk in righteousness, not by our own strength but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Grace gives us the assurance of eternal life and transforms us to reflect Christ’s character.

As we press through this week of reflection, take time to reflect on the gift of grace in your life. Thank God for His forgiveness, transformation, and the promise of eternal life. Then begin to let grace empower you to make choices that reflect Christ’s love and holiness. You are no longer bound by sin’s power. Lastly, remember that grace is not just for you; it’s a gift to share. Encourage someone else today by sharing the hope of God’s grace. Through Jesus, you are no longer under sin’s reign— you are a citizen of the kingdom of grace and life. Sin may have reigned in death, but through Jesus, grace reigns in life, leading us to eternal victory. Walk confidently in that grace today!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of Your grace that triumphs over sin and leads to eternal life. Help me to live under the reign of grace, walking in righteousness and reflecting Your love. Remind me daily that I am free from sin’s power and secure in Your promise of eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
