“Abundant Life”
Scripture: John 10:10

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Devotion:
In today’s scripture, Jesus contrasts His purpose with that of the thief, who symbolizes the enemy—Satan. The thief’s mission is clear: to steal, kill, and destroy. He seeks to rob us of joy, peace, and purpose, to destroy our relationships and hinder our walk with God. The enemy wants to do everything he can to keep us distracted, tied up in bondage, and spiritually dead.

But Jesus offers something different. He says, "I came that they might have life and have it abundantly."  He came, died, and rose again that we may have eternal life. Yes, He wants us to live abundantly while we wait on Him; however, we want that eternal abundance – life forever in heaven with God. This isn’t something that is earned, it’s a gift freely given from God – all we have to do is choose to serve Him. It will not always be easy, but if we abide in Jesus, He will give us the fullness that nothing material even closely compares to.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for coming to give me life. Forgive me for the times I have allowed the enemy to steal my peace or distract me from Your presence. I choose to trust You today, to follow Your voice, and walk in the fullness You offer. Fill me with Your peace, Your joy, and Your purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
