A Prepared Place

John 14:3
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Devotion:
In this passage of text, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is speaking to His disciples, comforting them, and promising them that He will return for them. These same words are His promise to us.  Jesus lets us know that He has gone to prepare a place for us so that when He returns, we will be able to go back with Him and spend eternity.

When we are feeling down, we can remember this promise. Remember that this world is not our eternal home. Remember that because of Jesus’ love for us and His great sacrifice, we are saved; and He has a peaceful place awaiting us in Heaven with Him. We can be confident that Jesus cares for us.  And as Jesus says in Matthew 24:44, “Therefore be ye also ready; for in such an hour as we think not the Son of man cometh.”  So, while we are waiting, we have to be about our Father’s business.   We have to stay prepared and be watchful, knowing that we are not just living for today, but we are living to live again.

Prayer:
Father God, we thank You for Your Son, Jesus.  We thank You that one day He is coming back to take us with Him.  Thank You for Your promises which are Yes and Amen. Help us to be ready when Jesus comes.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
