I Believe

Mark 16:16
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Devotion:
Jesus’ message to His disciples after He had risen from the grave with all power in His hands was to “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” They were to preach to the Gentiles as well as to the Jews, teaching them of the gospel of Jesus Christ, His life, death and resurrection.  Jesus gave them what to tell anyone that would receive this word, which is written in verse 16, if they believed and were baptized, they would be saved. Saved from the guilt and power of sin through Jesus Christ. Today, as disciples of Jesus Christ, we share Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

We must continue as believers to spread the gospel to all creation, the young and the old. This is the great commission. Let us go into the highways and hedges and compel them, to come in, that my house may be filled, Luke 14:23. We must be prayerful when we go that they will receive this word, because in this same scripture, Jesus also says that “he that believeth not will be damned;” they will perish. Let’s do what we are called to do, spreading love through the sharing of the Gospel. Amen.

Prayer: 
Father, I thank You for Your son who died on the cross for my sins. Thank You for the mind to believe. Thank You for water baptism which shows our faith in Jesus outwardly.  Father, we pray for those who do not believe, and we ask that in days to come – before it is too late - they will come to know You and confess that they believe. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
