Day 5 Sunday 3/9 - Choose Wisely

Scriptural Reflection

1 Samuel 15:22
And Samuel said,
Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
as in obeying the voice of the LORD?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Devotional Thought
Although Saul was chosen by the people, he still had an opportunity to be God’s choice. Willful ignorance and dishonesty kept him outside the will of God. He consequently becomes an example to all of us of what NOT to do. Being smart in one’s own conceits by attempting to hide from the God whose eyes are in every place is a major Adamic mistake. It remains in our best interest to, without resistance, obey God wholly and resist the temptation to offer as a sacrifice or offer to Him anything other than what He has asked of us. “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice” of what your carnal mind told you would suffice. Honesty is the best policy.

Prayer
 Lord, if there is anything in me that I have unintentionally withheld from you or have somehow plausibly denied take it out. I just want to be right. Shine the light I need to follow the path before me that you desire I take. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.
