“Oneness In The Faith”
Scripture: John 17:20-23
 
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”

Devotion:
In this Scripture, Jesus prayed for the disciples to be one, so that the world may believe that the Father has sent Him.  When Jesus was praying, He was not only praying for His disciples at that time, but He was praying for everyone who would believe in Him through the disciples’ message.  In order for the world to believe and recognize the truth of The Lord’s teachings and the power of God’s love, it is very important that the messengers are unified.  We have to demonstrate the Love of Christ and live in unity with one another if we are going to win others to Christ. As believers in Christ, it is also important to overcome division and put our differences aside.
Jesus prayed that His disciples’ oneness be the same as we see with the Trinity – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and He is calling for all believers to strive for a similar deep connection with each other. As Christians, we need to search within ourselves to see if we have any division with our brothers and sisters in Christ, those whom we are on this Christian journey with; and if we do, we must pray for God’s grace to help us mend those differences.  Only then will we successfully be about our Father’s business.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, we thank You for Your prayer for the unity of Your believers.  We ask that You shine Your light upon us, and if You find anything that is causing division with our brothers and sisters, help us to overcome them and work together to have a deeper connection with each other. We want the world to see Your love shining through us and receive You as their personal Savior.  In Jesus’ name, Amen
