“Chosen and Called into Light”
Scripture: 1 Peter 2:9-10 (NIV)

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

Devotion:
These verses remind us of our identity in Christ. We are not defined by our past mistakes, our failures, or even our successes. Instead, God has chosen us to be His own—a royal priesthood, set apart to glorify Him.

Before knowing Christ, we lived in spiritual darkness, separated from God. But through His mercy, we have been brought into His marvelous light, transformed into His people. This is not because of anything we have done, but because of His grace and love.

Being God’s chosen people means we have a purpose: to declare His praises. Our lives should reflect the goodness of God so that others may see His light through us. Whether in our words, actions, or attitudes, we are called to live in a way that honors Him.

Application:

• Reflect on how God has brought you out of darkness into His light.
• Ask yourself: Am I living in a way that declares His praises?
• Look for opportunities today to share His love and mercy with others.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness and making me Your own. Help me to live as a reflection of Your light, sharing Your love and mercy with those around me. May my life declare Your praises every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
