“Serve with Humility”
Scripture: Romans 12:3-8

“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith; Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching; Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.”

Devotion:
This Scripture reminds me of my late Pastor.  He would advise us not to get the “Big Head” when the Lord blessed us with different natural and Spiritual accomplishments.  Paul is telling the people in this Scripture that they ought not to think of themselves more highly than they are, but to be humble. He says that God gives different gifts according to His grace. It is important for us to know that the measure of faith and all of the gifts and talents that God gives us are to be used for His glory.  Each gift is important in God’s sight, and as we work together in the Kingdom of God, every gift is essential. We are all needed, we are workers together with God. Paul also instructs them not to move too swiftly in their calling.  We are to be aligned with God’s will and His timing.  Don’t be too eager or anxious because there are consequences we can face when we go ahead of God.  Let us be humble and wait on the Lord!  

Prayer:
Father we thank You for the measure of faith and the gifts that You have bestowed us with. We pray that You will help us to identify the gifts and work humbly with others. We give you all the praise, honor and glory!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
