“When They Go Low, We Go High!”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 4:12, NIV

“We work hard with our own hands. When we are cursed, we bless; when we are persecuted, we endure it;”

Devotion:
A few years ago, our forever First Lady, Michelle Obama, coined a simple yet powerful phrase in response to some negative words and actions done towards them. She said, “When they go low, we go high!” This statement comes to mind when reading today’s Scripture. Apostle Paul is speaking to the Corinthian church about how they operate when faced with negative opposition. When we find ourselves in the midst of opposition, we must remember to bless those same people and endure hardship. In other words, when they go low, we go high! We all know the people of the Bible went through the thick of it for the sake of Christ. Many of them had every right to “go off” but instead, they blessed those same people who came at them sideways. Let’s remember their example here in today’s Scripture. Let us do our best to go high when they go low. We got this!

Prayer:
God, thank You for the willpower You’ve given all of us. Even though we face opposition from people who don’t mean us any good, help us to remember that we represent You. That we can endure the hardness and can bless those same people. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
