“Stay On the Vine”
Scripture: John 15:5, AMP

“I am the Vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him bears much fruit, for [otherwise] apart from Me [that is, cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing.”

Devotion:
Jesus uses a vivid picture in John 15:5 to describe our relationship with Him—He is the Vine, and we are the branches. The life of the branch depends entirely on its connection to the vine. Cut off from it, the branch withers. But when it remains attached, it thrives—bearing leaves, blossoms, and fruit. Our strength, wisdom, peace, and fruitfulness all flow from Jesus. Without Him, our efforts may look productive, but they will lack eternal value.

To "stay on the Vine" means remaining in constant connection with Jesus—through prayer, His Word, obedience, and trust. It means surrendering control and letting His life flow through you. It means letting Him prune away the dead weight that stunts your growth, so that more fruit—love, joy, peace, patience—can grow. Staying on the Vine isn’t about striving harder, but surrendering deeper. Jesus doesn't just want your effort—He wants your heart. He wants union, not just performance.

Prayer:
Lord, You are the true Vine, and I confess I often try to bear fruit on my own. Help me to draw near, to stay connected, and to listen for Your voice. Let Your life flow through mine, producing fruit that brings You glory. Keep me abiding—moment by moment, day by day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
