Daily Devotional - Cause for Celebration - WK52 - 12/28/24 - Day 341 - "I Know For Myself"

“I Know for Myself!”
Scripture: Luke 2:25-32 ESV

“Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ. And he came in the Spirit into the temple, and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the Law, he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said, “Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.”

Devotion:
There was a popular reel that came out some years ago of a woman who, while at convocation, professed receiving the Holy Ghost. In the short clip, she went into tongues and kept saying, “I know for myself!” She had heard all about the Holy Ghost but never experienced it for herself. However, when she experienced it, she had no doubt about God and His power! This text reminds me of this woman. Simeon knew for himself that Jesus was the Savior as soon as he was brought before Him in the temple. Immediately he praised and thanked God because his prayers were answered. His spirit was now at peace, knowing that Jesus came into the world to save the world! Let us keep this same spirit as Simeon and know for ourselves that Jesus Christ is Lord over all!

Prayer: 
Jesus we are thankful for You and Your awesome splendor. We know for ourselves that You are THE great Jehovah and we will forever praise Your matchless name. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
