“Praise and Be Merry”
Scripture: Jeremiah 30:19

“And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small”.

Devotion:
Once again the children of Israel would be in a rut. The prophet, Jeremiah, was writing down instructions from the Lord about His people once again being taken into captivity. But in today’s scripture, hope is once again prevalent in the midst of a trying time. After Jeremiah outlines the bad, he then gives them the hope that includes today’s scripture. The people that preyed upon them will no longer do so. The city will be rebuilt and restored upon the ruins. Praise God!! The aftermath would be the people praising and being merry and the Lord continuing to bless them.

Think about how that translates for us today. So many people are oppressed – whether physically or spiritually or both – and it seems hopeless. Trauma and grief causes people to do unspeakable things. I am here to let you know today that God will restore you. All you have to do is give it to Him, then praise Him, and watch the shift happen. When we praise God, we open a door to heaven that can wipe away shame, guilt, sickness, disease and even death. The praise on our lips and in our hearts activates God’s power in and through us. Praise=Power. In this upcoming season, there may be stress or distress in your life. Open up your mouth and praise God and I guarantee things will be different. Try Jesus and watch Him work!!!

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the ability and privilege to praise You. Help me to understand that praise changes circumstances and shifts things in my life. Help me to encourage others to not give up on their praise and to praise with them! We activate Your power in our lives and we thank You in advance for the great things to come! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
