“I Have a Hiding Place”
Scripture: Psalm 91:1-2

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust.” 
 
Devotion:
The safest place in the entire world is in the loving arms of our God. There have been times in my life where all I could do was cry out to God with tears streaming down my face. I had no words, only my sorrow to bring before Him. He has always, and I mean always, been my safe place to fall. Today’s scripture lets us know we can live under the shelter and protection of God. God is our safe place, and He is our security. He can, and He will protect us IF we stay connected to Him. Now does that mean our life will be a bed of roses, and we will walk on easy street? Absolutely not, however it means that no matter what we go through, God is willing and able to carry us through life's storms.

David, the author of our scripture today, went through many things in his life. However, he knew how to stay connected to God. Despite his shortcomings and mistakes, he knew to repent. Additionally, he understood the power of praise and worship. He danced before the Lord, and he didn't care who was looking! He gave God what some considered undignified praise. He also worshiped God as well. He knew that to truly abide and dwell in the secret place of God; he had to stay in God’s presence. David did this through his outward expression of praise for God’s goodness and his intimate worship of God based on his personal relationship with Him. God truly is our refuge and hiding place. We just have to stay in His presence.

Prayer: 
God, thank You for being my safe place. Help me stay connected to You. Amen.
