“Just to Behold His Face”
Scripture: 1 John 3:2 NLT

“Dear friends, we are already God’s children, but he has not yet shown us what we will be like when Christ appears. But we do know that we will be like him, for we will see him as he really is.”

Devotion:
Oftentimes, we encounter people who look or resemble others. This is personal for me, because many people tell me that my father and I look like twins. Part of this is because I am my father’s son. He cannot deny me, and I cannot deny him. My face and features resemble that of my natural father. We are God’s children, which means He is our Heavenly Father. Part of that relationship comes with the opportunity to look like Him. While we may not have seen Him physically, He is all around us.

As His children, our goal should be to resemble God as much as we can in our everyday lives. How can we look like someone who we have not seen? Well, that’s easy; follow His commandments. When we follow His commandments, we set ourselves up for success. Because once Christ appears, we will be able to behold His amazing face! What comfort to know that we will see God for who He is, AND look just like Him!

Prayer:
Lord, we are amazed at Your benevolence towards us. To know that we are Your children is a comforting feeling, because You are a Good, Good Father. We ask that You continue to give us wisdom, and strength to always strive to look like You. We anxiously await the day when we can behold Your face! In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
