"Give the Instructions"
Scripture: 2 Timothy 2:2

“And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.“

Devotion: In today’s devotion, Paul is giving Timothy a very important piece of information – give the instructions. Paul had given Timothy and others the word to spread the gospel to others. Think about a teacher – they go to school, learn the curriculum, and present the knowledge to the students. What would happen if the teachers just went to school, learned the knowledge and then did nothing with it? First of all, that would be a tremendous waste of time and resources. God does not want us to waste time. When we are taught, it is for us to go teach. Now, I am not saying everyone will stand up in front of the church and give a lesson; however, every one of us will come into contact with a sinner who needs the gospel.

Teachers are so important because they continue the bridge established by Jesus. Jesus taught his disciples, who then taught others who became disciples, and so forth and so on. The line should not stop with us. We should be “teaching” someone what we have learned in our salvation walk. If you don’t have anything to share, stop, take a moment to evaluate yourself, and get back on the right track. It is more critical now because there are so many agendas, so many false prophets, so much going on. We have to be ready to give people the truth because it is the only thing that will set them free.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for the instructions you have given us. Help us to stay ready so that when our time comes to give, we can be sure that we are giving them what You are saying. Word our mouths so that Your word can be put forth. Remove any agendas or bias that we may have so that the instruction we give will line up with Your word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
