“What Did You Expect?”
Scripture: Proverbs 10:28 NIV

“The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.”

Devotion:
Oftentimes, we witness others who are in situations that they have put themselves in. To add insult to injury, they are often surprised with the results. I don't know about you, but I have said, “What did you expect?” We generally associate this statement with a negative situation, but it can apply to a positive one as well. You do the right thing, you get right results; you do the wrong thing, you get the opposite results. This is what today’s Scripture is teaching us. The righteous should expect joy. Why? Because they are righteous! The wicked, however, have nothing to look forward to. Why? Because they are wicked! So when the winds of God are blowing in your favor, think it not strange. When you are experiencing the joy of the Lord, don’t second guess it. When you know that God will work out the situation, don’t waiver. If you are righteous, these results are inevitable. What did you expect?

Prayer:
God, thank You for Your unwavering goodness. We appreciate the simplicity of Your ways, knowing that if we are righteous, we will experience joy, but if we are wicked, we have nothing to hope for. Help us to always know what to expect by continuing to strive for righteousness. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
