“Royalty”
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9

Devotional:
Royalty – when one thinks of this word, our minds may have, in past times, gone to the now deceased Queen Elizabeth. She was always portrayed as a symbol of elegance and grace and, to some, invincible. However, she is not what I think of when I read the scripture above. I think of Jesus, sitting at the right hand of God, in his rightful place.

We are royalty. And this does not mean we have fancy cars and clothes and people bow down to us. It simply means we are special to God and, if we continue to do His will, we will maintain that status. So often the waves of life seek to disrupt our pedestals. No, I am not saying we are high and mighty, but we do have an extraordinary purpose – one that cannot be measured against mere men and women. Our purpose is to shew forth the praises of GOD, who has called us out of darkness into the light.

Think about the breaking of day. It’s so dark in some places, you can’t even see your hand in front of your face. When that light first peeks above the horizon, it creates a majestic and beautiful scene that cannot be described by words. Sometimes just sitting and watching in silence brings about a peace that cannot be explained. That is how our lives should be lived. When we enter a room, the power of the Holy Ghost within us should lighten the dark places and bring peace to those we come into contact with.

As we strive toward our wealthy place, let us not forget the peace of God that passeth all understanding. Let us be the light that shines in the darkness. Let us be the royalty God called us to be with our head held high, walking in His elegance.

Prayer:
Father, thank you for the opportunity to show the world You. Help me to always seek to be royal in Your eyes, to remain peculiar, to remain steadfast in the purpose You have called me to.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
