“To Everyone Who Believes”

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” – Romans 1:16

Devotional:
Salvation is free. So often we hear this and it is so true. All we have to do is confess with our mouth and believe and salvation is available to us. In the scripture, the Apostle Paul was writing to the church in Rome about an upcoming visit. He was, of course, deterred by prison and other hindrances; however, he wanted to let them know that the power of God is given to everyone that believes. We must take heed to Paul’s message today – believe and receive. When we believe, i.e., when we exercise our faith, we invoke the Power of God in our lives. It doesn’t matter my race, my background or even my past. God’s power is to everyone who believes.

The Gospel was first preached to the Jews, who rejected Paul and the disciples – they even rejected Jesus himself. However, this should not stop us from telling everyone who will listen about, what I like to call, some additional Good News. Yes, the Good News about Jesus going to the cross for my sins begins the conversation, but an important add-on is that we can receive salvation and power when we believe.

The Journey to Pentecost is not just another set of days on the calendar. Each day is an opportunity to spread the Good News and invoke the Power of God in our lives and the lives of those around us. Make the most of every moment!

Prayer:
Father, I believe in You – in Your plan for me, in Your will for my life, in all that You have for me. I invoke Your Power in my life today. Help me to spread the word that believing in You will empower people like never before. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
