“Perfect Gifts From Above”
Scripture: James 1:17, AMP

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes]."

Devotion:
We live in a world filled with shifting circumstances and changing people. Seasons come and go, hearts change, and even our best plans can fall apart. But James 1:17 reminds us of a deep, unchanging truth: every truly good and perfect gift in our lives originates from above—from God, who never changes. His goodness isn’t dependent on how we perform or how we feel. He gives generously, purely, and perfectly, from a heart of infinite love.

Take a moment to consider what you have received from Him. Life. Grace. Peace in the storm. Forgiveness when you least deserved it. Strength when you had none. These gifts may not always look the way we expect them to, but they are perfect in the way they shape us, draw us closer to Him, and fulfill His eternal purposes. Sometimes we question why certain things are withheld. But the truth is, God only gives what is good and perfect. If He withholds, it’s because He sees what we cannot—what is not good for us right now or at all.

Prayer:
God, I thank You for Your unchanging nature. You are steady, faithful, and kind. Every good and perfect gift comes from You, and I praise You for the blessings You have given—both seen and unseen. Forgive me when I fail to recognize Your goodness in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
