Daily Devotional - A Time of Gratitude - WK48 - 11/29/24 - Day 313 "The Righteousness of God"

“The Righteousness of God”
Scripture: Psalm 7:17

“I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the
name of the Lord most high.”

Devotion:
As we approach the end of this week of devotion, we want to continue in the vein of
praise and worship and an attitude of gratitude. On yesterday we celebrated our
nation’s Thanksgiving Day, but we don’t have to just relegate our thanks to that one day.
David writes in Psalm 7 that “I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness.”
During this time, it is believed that David was sharing his gratitude to God for being
righteous and just. In a time when it seems to be evil and unjust, we know that we can
always count on God to be holy, righteous and just. It is often said that He is too just to
do wrong, and too wise to make a mistake. With that we can be assured that God will
always have our back.

David goes on to say, “I will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.” Once He
provides His righteous judgement, we should be willing to give Him praise for being our
holy and righteous God. If we ever feel as though we are being treated unfairly, we can
tell God about it and we will see that He will work it out for us. You don’t ever have to
worry about what men may say or do and his treatment of us. We know that we serve a
holy and righteous God. God is the best defender we could ever have on our side.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for being a holy and righteous God. Even in times of injustice and
what we may perceive to be unfair, we know that you are able to give us justice. Help us
to always look to You in our situation for righteous judgement and to always give You
praise. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
