“The Anointing Destroys the Yoke”
Scripture: Isaiah 10:27

“And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

Devotion:
The prophet Isaiah brought good news to the leaders of Jerusalem and Judah, assuring them that the burdens (the yoke), that the King of Assyria, who had captured the cities of Judah, robbed them of their belongings and mocked the God that they served, would soon be destroyed by the anointing.  He let them know that God’s anger which He held against them for their disobedience will now turn from them to the Assyrians, their enemy. They would no longer have to worry because their burdens will be lifted. They would be free from the bondage of the Assyrians.

This very prophesy should be reassuring for the people of God today.  Many of us are carrying heavy burdens that the enemy has laid on our shoulders.  Some are battling physical and mental illnesses, unemployment, financial issues, family dysfunctionality, and homelessness.  But this promise from Isaiah is a word that we must grab hold to.  Knowing that the Anointing destroys the yoke.  If we study, believe, and live by The Word of God, that yoke that we can’t get rid of on our own can and will be destroyed by the power of our Father.  We have to be encouraged, knowing that the same God that destroyed the yokes for the children of Israel back then will do the same for you and I.  “If He did it before, He will do it again.”  We can also find hope in the book of Luke 4:18, a New Testament reference, when Jesus says, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.”  Let us be encouraged, because we know that we can cast all of our cares on Him and He is faithful to deliver us.
 
Prayer: 
Father God, we thank You for Your anointing power.  We pray that everyone reading this devotion will have their burdens lifted and every yoke destroyed in Jesus’ name.  That we will trust in Your wonder working power and cast our cares on You, knowing that You will fight for us.  In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
