“Know Your Enemy!”
Scripture: John 10:10 KJV

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Devotion:
Growing up, I remember my home church pastor always saying, “It’s great to know the Lord, but you need to know the devil, too!” I would always laugh because I thought it was funny, but I didn’t know how much truth was in that statement until I became older, and life started “lifing”. It was in those moments I realized that the enemy was trying to do just as the scripture says: steal my joy, kill my purpose, and destroy my destiny.

The devil has already been where we are trying to go, and that is in Heaven. Because of his sinful nature, he was kicked out of Heaven and wants to do everything in his power to stop us from having everlasting life. When we know who we are up against, we can recognize our enemy’s tactics and not fall into sin. This allows us the opportunity to look to Jesus, who came down to give us a life of abundance.

Prayer: 
Lord, we love and magnify You for allowing us to have access to abundant life. Please help us to remember the tactics of the enemy so we don’t fall victim to his vices. When we know our enemy, we know how to defeat our enemy, and that’s through You, our blessed Savior. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
