“His Blood”
Scripture: Revelation 1:5 (KJV)

“and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood”

Devotion:
In this verse, we see a powerful description of Jesus Christ, highlighting three key aspects of His identity and work:

1. Faithful Witness: Jesus is the ultimate and reliable testimony of God's truth. His life, death, and resurrection serve as a living witness to the Father's love and the way to eternal life. No matter what we face, we can trust in His words and His promises, knowing that He is faithful.

2. Firstborn from the Dead: Jesus’ resurrection is not just a past event; it is the guarantee of our future resurrection. As the firstborn from the dead, He has conquered death and paved the way for all who believe in Him to share in this victory. Our hope is anchored in the reality that death does not have the final say—life in Christ does.

3. Ruler of the Kings of the Earth: Jesus’ authority extends over all earthly powers. No matter how chaotic or unjust the world may seem, He reigns supreme. In a world often marked by uncertainty and turmoil, this truth brings comfort and assurance that Christ is sovereign overall.

The verse then transitions into a personal and profound declaration: Jesus loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood. This truth is the cornerstone of our faith. His sacrificial love is the foundation of our freedom. We are no longer bound by sin because Jesus has paid the ultimate price. As recipients of His love and grace, we are called to live in the freedom He has secured for us, reflecting His love to the world around us.

Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus, we thank You for being the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of all kings. We stand in awe of Your love that freed us from our sins through Your precious blood. Help us to live in the freedom You have given us, boldly proclaiming Your truth and love to the world. May we find comfort and strength in Your sovereignty, knowing that You are in control of all things. Amen.

Jesus’ love is our freedom, His resurrection is our hope, and His reign is our assurance. How can you live today in the light of these truths?
