Essential Oil

James 5:14,15 NKJV
14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Devotional:
After reading the story about Mary pouring the oil on Jesus’ feet, we now understand a little more as to why the anointing oil is used during prayer. Many people come to the altar for prayer because they are looking for peace from God. They desire to be healed, delivered, and set free, all of which can cause a person to not have peace in their lives. We understand that the oil does not change things, it’s the faith we have in Jesus’ example of what the oil can do for us.

The oil is used during our time of prayer and consecration. The altar workers’ hands are anointed to prepare for prayer. That person then uses the oil to anoint the head of the person receiving prayer. Many times, the oil is placed directly on the sick area to provide direct contact of faith for that issue. The old Saints would take the oil and anoint cars, homes, and bills. It was used on anything they needed God to move upon. And through the anointing oil, people were healed, set free, delivered, and saved. Miracles were performed because of their faith in what God could do through the anointing oil.

As we continue to our Wealthy Place, take the oil with you, anointing yourself and everything that you need God to move upon. It is not limited to sickness; it works on everything.

Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for showing us what oil can do for our bodies, minds, and souls. We use the oil today as a symbol of our faith in Your word, “by His stripes we were healed”, Isaiah 53:5, we walk in our healing today by Faith through the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
