“Holy Ghost Fire”

“John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey. And this was his message: After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.” (Mark 1:6-8, NIV)

Devotional:
In our scripture today, John is letting the people know that someone much greater than him is coming to baptize them with something greater than mere water. Jesus was coming to baptize them with the power of the Holy Ghost. Do you remember the day you were filled with the Holy Ghost? When I think back on the day I was filled with the Holy Ghost, it was unlike anything I had ever experienced before in my life. I was a teenager, and it happened one night at a revival we were having. The small holiness church I attended would tarry until the power of the Lord came down from on high. When the Holy Ghost filled me, I literally felt like I was floating or flying and my feet were not touching the ground. The joyful praise that filled me was indescribable, and I wanted to stay in that spiritual state forever. I am sure you’ve heard the saying, “ain’t no party like a Holy Ghost party.” When the power of the Holy Ghost fills the room, and the people of God are on one accord, what a time! What a time! What a time! We are on the Journey to Pentecost Sunday church family, and I am expecting miracles, signs, and wonders.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the gift of the Holy Ghost. Help me allow Him to lead, guide, and direct me in all of Your ways. Amen.
