Sweeter Than Pie
 
Psalm 19:7-10
7  The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure,
making wise the simple. 8  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10  More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than
honey and the honeycomb.

Devotional:
We’re living in a material world where just about anything can be made over. If you don’t like your eyelids, you can put on eyelashes. If you don’t like your glutes, you can have some added. If you don’t like your nose, you can have it repositioned. If you don’t like your muffin top, you can have it taken out. If you don’t like your gray beard, you can color it black.

If you don’t like your husband or wife anymore, you can divorce them and get a new one. If you don’t like your car, you can buy a new one. If you want a bigger house, you can purchase one. If your diamonds are not big enough you can purchase bigger ones. If you don’t have enough money, well you can get more of that too.

The only problem with all of those things is this, none of them brings us peace. None of them gives us new life. None of them provides wisdom, not even to the most common people. None of them cures our hearts of loneliness and heart break. None of them makes our soul rejoice. Only the word of God, which is the instructions for life, is perfect enough to give us peace and wisdom.

This Psalm from David describes the life we have in the testimony of Jesus Christ. What is Jesus’ testimony?v He was conceived divinely through the Spirit of God through the womb of a virgin girl named Mary. He lived a quiet life until the age of 30 and began His ministry of purpose. He did the work of His Father for three years. His life ended at the age of 33 by hanging on the cross so that we could be reconciled back to God. It is through His testimony that we are free today. We are free to live a perfect life through Him, with wisdom, a glad heart, and in His light. We have the freedom to worship God in His fullness because of His testimony.

The Living Word of God converts our souls, makes the simple wise, makes our hearts rejoice, opens our eyes of understanding and it endures forever. The Word of God is the best makeover anyone could ever get. If you ever look in the mirror and don’t like what you see, think about the testimony of Jesus Christ and all the value it brings. It’s worth more than anything we could ever purchase or eat. And I love me some key lime pie, but the word of God is sweeter than that. 5020202020Recent
