Day 26: Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance

"Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."
Ephesians 6:11-12

Devotional:
As we continue during the month of prayer on Day 26, I want you to remember that our adversary uses wiles (trickery, deceit, schemes, and distractions) in an effort to distract and defeat us.

As we approach the end of this special time of prayer, don’t forget that the armor is the Christians lifelong attire. It is to be worn at all times. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation should be with you at all times. This is a war and the battle will continue to be as long as we are in these earthly bodies.

Be on the lookout for distractions. Even when the month of prayer has concluded, the enemy is going to continue trying to make us lose our focus. You will have to keep your eyes on Jesus and the word of God in your heart. Don’t be afraid to speak the Word of God to the devil, let him know that you mean business. Cast him out of your mind. The war is already won. Jesus got the victory on the cross. “Only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the devil, who had the power of death” (Hebrews 2:14b NLT).

We must be prepared to wrestle against the trickery and deception that the devil and his army will use to attack God’s people. While the devil’s army is always on guard and fighting. We have to be on guard at all times also. The devil has no power over us, unless we allow him to. This is why you have to be strong in the Lord. There is strength inside of us; we have to use it. This is where our shield of faith comes in. Faith is our covering. The stronger the faith, the bigger and tougher the covering.

I am reminded of my first spiritual battle. Of course I didn’t know what it was at the time; When the Lord first saved me. There was a struggle between good and evil going on inside me. The enemy had been there so long that he didn’t think he should give up his home, but God said you have to go. I couldn’t tell if I was coming or going. My mind felt like it was being shredded. I called my dad and ask him what was going on. He told me to hold on, things will be just fine. The Lord had sent his soldiers to evict Satan. They fought a battle and I don’t have to tell you, God was the victor. He kicked Satan out. Joy came to replace confusion. I have been running for Jesus ever since, and will continue to do so until He calls me home.

We all have battles to overcome, but if you put your faith and trust in the Lord He will win them for you. This is what the Armor of God is about, wear it with honor.

Prayer:
God, clothe us with Your full armor so we can stand against the enemy's schemes. Deliver us from evil and grant us victory in spiritual warfare. Amen.
