Author: Evangelist Lisa Dalton

“Turn Back to God”
Scripture: Isaiah 55:7

"Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon."

Devotion:
One of the most beautiful truths in Scripture is that God welcomes those who turn back to Him. Isaiah 55:7 is a powerful invitation to repentance and restoration. It reminds us that no matter how far we have wandered, God's mercy is greater than our failures.

The verse calls us to do two things: forsake our way and return to the Lord. Repentance is more than feeling sorry for sin. It is a change of direction. It means turning away from thoughts, attitudes, and actions that are contrary to God's will and choosing to walk in His ways.

What makes this invitation so remarkable is God's response. He does not merely tolerate those who return. He shows mercy. He does not reluctantly forgive. He "abundantly pardons." God's forgiveness is not limited or scarce. His grace is overflowing and available to all who sincerely seek Him.

Perhaps today you feel burdened by mistakes, regrets, or spiritual failure. Maybe you have been trying to carry guilt that God is ready to remove. This verse reminds us that God's heart is open to those who come to Him in humility. His mercy is always greater than our sin.

The door of grace is open. The Father is waiting. Return to Him today and experience the joy of His forgiveness.

Reflection Questions:

1. Is there an area of your life where God is calling you to turn back to Him?
2. Are there thoughts or attitudes that need to be surrendered to God?
3. How does God's promise of abundant pardon encourage you today?

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your mercy and unfailing love. Forgive me for the times I have followed my own way instead of Yours. Help me to turn from anything that displeases You and to walk in obedience. Thank You for abundant forgiveness and the grace You freely give. Draw me closer to You today and renew my heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
