“Deeper Love”
Scripture: Ephesians 3:17-19, NIV

“so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

Devotion:
God is love; therefore, love is foundational and ‌should be at the center of everything we do. In today’s Scripture, Paul’s prayer lets us know God desires for His love to fill us to the point where it overflows in our lives and blesses others. The love of God strengthens us, empowers us, and enables us to love others. There is no limit or measure to God’s love for us, and He showed us this through the ultimate sacrifice of His Son to redeem us back to Him.

Paul’s prayer admonishes us to be “rooted” and “established” in love. That means our foundation is secure and firm in God. We are not distracted by the cares of this world, and we are not fearful of what man can do to us. Instead, we stay connected to and follow the true and living vine—Jesus Christ. It also means that love is at the center of everything we do. I truly believe that when we learn how to love like God loves us, we can walk boldly in His purpose and will for our lives. Then we can successfully become disciple makers and kingdom builders because God is a God of overflow, abundance, and more than enough.

Prayer:
Lord, help us become rooted and established in Your love so that You gain the glory from our lives in Jesus’ name. Help us submit to Your will for our lives and walk in obedience to You. Amen.
