“A Life That Shows Who You Belong To”
Scripture: Philippians 1:11, NLT

“May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.”

Devotion:
You’ve heard the saying, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” It’s often used when someone’s character is being examined or questioned. In this passage, Paul’s prayer is simple yet profound: that believers would be so deeply rooted in Jesus that His character naturally shows up in their lives. In other words, the “apple” that falls from our lives should reflect the nature of Christ. We can’t boast about the fruit we produce because we aren’t the source — He is. Our role is simply to bear the fruit that comes from being connected to the true tree.

The “fruit of righteousness” isn’t something we manufacture by trying harder. It’s something Jesus produces in us as we stay connected to Him.

Just like fruit on a tree: it grows quietly, it grows gradually, and it grows because of the life flowing through the branches.

Paul reminds us that this fruit isn’t for our applause — it’s for God’s glory. A righteous life points people back to the One who changed us.

Consider This:

• What kind of “fruit” is showing up in my life right now — patience, kindness, humility, obedience?
• Am I relying on Jesus to produce righteousness in me, or am I trying to force it on my own?
• How can my life today bring glory and praise to God?

Prayer:
Lord, fill my life with the fruit that only You can produce. Shape my thoughts, my words, and my actions so they reflect Your righteousness. Let everything I do today bring glory and praise to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
