“A Mission and a Promise”
Scripture: Matthew 28:19–20

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Devotion:
These verses are known as the Great Commission, but they’re also a great comfort. Jesus gives His followers a mission that reaches the whole world — and then He anchors that mission with a promise that reaches the end of time.

The mission is clear: Go. Make disciples. Baptize. Teach. Not just in familiar places, but “all nations.” Not just with our words, but with our lives. But Jesus doesn’t send us out alone. He says, “I am with you alway.” His presence is the power behind the mission.
His Spirit is the strength behind our obedience.

We must remember that we are the salt of the earth. Just as salt brings flavor and makes food easier to enjoy, our lives and our words should make the truth of God more appealing and accessible. It is our responsibility to teach God’s Word both through what we say and how we live. Like salt, we can help make life in Christ more inviting and understandable for those who do not yet know Him.

This means every conversation, every act of kindness, every moment of courage, every step of faith — He is there.

Consider This:

• Where is God calling me to “go” today — my home, workplace, school, or community?
• Who in my life needs encouragement, prayer, or the hope of Christ?
• Am I living as a disciple who helps others become disciples?

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for trusting me with Your mission. Give me courage to go where You send me and wisdom to speak with love and truth. Help me make disciples through my words and my example. Thank You for Your promise to be with me always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
