“Stay Connected to the Source”
Scripture: John 15:1, NLT

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.”

Devotion:
Jesus begins this chapter with a picture His listeners would instantly understand — a vineyard. Vines, branches, fruit, pruning… all of it paints a simple but powerful truth:

Life only grows when it stays connected to the source.

When Jesus says, “I am the true vine,” He is reminding us that:

• He is our strength
• He is our nourishment
• He is our stability
• He is our source of spiritual life

And when He says the Father is the gardener, He shows us that God is not distant. He is actively shaping, tending, pruning, and caring for us so we can flourish.

Remember this: Things grow faster when pruning takes place. Our spiritual walk is just like getting a haircut. The more it’s cut the more it grows. That’s how sanctification works, when we get cut spiritually, we grow spiritually. God cuts those whom He loves.

Consider This:

• What am I connected to for strength — Jesus, or something else?
• Where might God be “pruning” me so I can grow?
• Am I trying to produce fruit on my own, or am I relying on the Vine?

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me stay connected to You today. You are my true source of life. Father, shape me, prune me, and help me grow in the ways that honor You. Keep me close to Your heart and steady in Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
