“Who Are You Really Working For?”
Scripture: Colossians 3:23, NLT

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

Devotion:
This verse pulls back the curtain on our daily routines and asks a direct, challenging question: Who are you really working for? Many of us work for personal goals — financial stability, independence, retirement, or simply to keep up with bills. We show up each day focused on one thing: the paycheck waiting at the end of our hours. Rarely do we stop to consider that our work itself can be an offering to the Lord, and that He can receive glory through the way we labor, even in ordinary tasks. And the same is true in the church — our service should never be about us but about honoring the Lord in everything we do.

Paul reminds believers that every task — big or small, exciting, or ordinary — becomes meaningful when it’s done for the Lord. Not for applause. Not for recognition. Not for people-pleasing. But for the One who sees everything and values faithfulness.
When we shift our focus from people to God, our work becomes worship.

Consider This:

• What tasks today feel small, unnoticed, or frustrating?
• How would they change if you approached them as service to God?
• Are there areas where you’ve been working for approval instead of working from devotion?

Prayer:
Lord, help me work today with a heart that honors You. Teach me to see every task as an opportunity to serve You with excellence and joy. Free me from seeking approval from others and let my work bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
